Edu-K Learning Track & internship requirements

Beginning the Learning Track:

  • In order to embark on the Learning Track, a Matric certificate is required, and preferably some other learning experience as well.
  • if a person is currently studying for Matric, they need to prove competency
application by someone needing to prove competency should be made in writing
  • Otherwise the assumption is made that once a person has reached 23 years of age , they have sufficient “school of life” experience.

Learning Track hours:

  • 1000 total hours are required for the complete learning track and are to be accumulated as follows:

250 hours for Prior Learning

  • 250 hours from another, related, qualification such as in the field of education, psychology, etc.
  • Proof of prior learning needs to be furnished

250 hours of Edu-K course work:

  • time spent in the Learning Track courses
  • required practical assignments following the courses, 6 practice balances, questions for answering, etc.

500 hours of practical internship:

  • a minimum of 250 balances ; 1 balance usually constitutes 1 hour, however, especially as one is gaining experience, a balance can take longer, therefore the actual time taken may be claimed, up to a max of 2 hours per balance.
  • balances received , as well as balances given.
  • a minimum of 80 in-depth balances , performed by the intern on other people.
  • NB: balances which are required as course assignments may not be claimed.
  • talks given by the intern on the subject of Brain Gym®.
  • recognised courses additional to the Learning Track, e.g. Touch for Health , Hanna Kok's Make-a-Life course & Marlize Basson's courses Triumph over Fear, Integration of Reflexes and Reaction , Brain Gym for Babies & the Elderly , etc. (See table above)
  • the accepted number of hours for a course is 8 hours per day .

Internship requirements:

  • A student may begin the internship after having submitted his/her 6 required balances following the Brain Gym 101 course.
  • In recording the internship, a student should note the date, the name of the balance (or other activity) and the number of hours taken for each entry.
  • Once the internship has been completed , the student needs to send a formal letter to Marlize Basson declaring that the 500 hours have been completed and that a detailed list of these hours is available on request.
  • Once the internship has been completed, one may use the title “Brain Gym Practitioner” and use the Brain Gym logo .

Course assignments:

  • Certificates for each course will be awarded after the assignments have been received and accepted by the trainer.
  • Course assignments must be completed within 2 years of having attended the course, otherwise the course needs to be repeated.
  • Brain Gym 101 assignment: 3 of the 6 balances must be X-span balances.

Talks given by a student:

  • the core topic must be Brain Gym®
  • a student may give public talks and receive remuneration after having completed the Practitioners course Module 1 & 2 and after having done a recommended 50 hours of the internship
  • a student who is not sufficiently qualified may ask an Edu-K member to give a talk on his/her behalf
  • a student may consult an Edu-K member for ideas &/or help when preparing a talk

Charging for services/ Recognition of Prior Learning Policy:

  • A student may charge for balances given after having completed theBG101 course.
  • Participants doing a course for the second time may pay half price.
  • People from other modalities (i.e. other forms of kinesiology), e.g. Touch for Health, need to pay full price for the courses.

General:

  • It is required that a Practitioner does an update course at least every 2 years.
  • It is important to remember that Paul Dennison believes we should be open to change and growth.
